1. Our approach
We handle requests from law enforcement and government authorities as follows:
- We respond in accordance with Indian law and the applicable law of the jurisdiction the request comes from.
- We require a valid legal process and check every request for legitimacy and scope.
- We push back on requests that are overbroad, unclear or lack a proper legal basis.
- We notify affected users before disclosing their data, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or there is an emergency risk to life.
- We can only provide the account data we actually hold. Because of our strict no-activity-logs policy, we have no browsing or traffic records to hand over.
2. What we can and cannot provide
| Data | Do we hold it? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, optional name | Yes | Account data needed to run the service |
| Billing and payment records, invoices | Yes | Kept as required by Indian tax law (typically 8 years under the CGST Act). We never store full card numbers. |
| Plan, expiry, device/session count | Yes | Used to deliver the plan and enforce the 5-device limit |
| Support tickets | Yes | Messages you sent us |
| Session start time and server used | Only briefly | Short-lived connection metadata, deleted on a short rolling basis and never linked to browsing |
| Browsing history, websites visited | No | Not logged |
| Traffic content | No | Not logged |
| DNS queries | No | Not logged |
| Apps or services used through the VPN | No | Not logged |
3. Why we have no VPN servers in India
On 28 April 2022, CERT-In (the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) issued Directions under section 70B of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Among other things, they require VPN service providers operating servers in India to collect and retain subscriber information, such as names, addresses, contact details, IP addresses and the purpose of using the service, for 5 years.
SecureBreez does not operate VPN servers located in India. Our VPN servers are located outside India, so that subscriber-level connection records of this kind are not created on our network. We comply with the Indian laws that apply to us as an Indian business, including tax, consumer protection, data protection and grievance requirements.
4. Transparency report
We will publish our first transparency report 6 months after launch, and regularly after that. It will show the number and type of requests we receive and how we responded.
As of 23 October 2026: 0 requests received. SecureBreez has not yet launched, so we have received no law enforcement or government requests for user data.
5. Contact for authorities
